Ashburn Man Charged with Shooting at Occupied Vehicle

An Ashburn man was arrested June 9 after he discharged a firearm last night at an occupied vehicle in the area of Armstrong Terrace.

Clarence Swaim, 51, was reportedly involved in a domestic-related incident prior to the shooting, according to a release from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Around 10:40 p.m. on June 9 he apparently discharged a firearm into the air before discharging a round at a random vehicle in the area. The driver of the vehicle, who is not known to the suspect, was not injured.

Swaim was taken into custody by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office without incident and was charged with shooting a missile at an occupied vehicle, reckless handling of a firearm and brandishing a firearm, the LCSO said in the release.

He is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
