Loudoun County residents will have three more opportunities to sit down with the Loudoun County Sheriff and members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) over coffee this month.
The idea comes from Coffee with a Cop, a national organization that aims to bring police and communities served together, LCSO Public Information Officer Aleksandra Kowalski said.
The casual atmosphere of a coffee shop encourages participants to get to know each other and discuss how to best serve the community.
Although National Coffee with a Cop Day isn’t until fall, organizations all over the country host their own Coffee with a Cop days throughout the year. LCSO has participated in a few, but will now host them on a quarterly basis, Kowalski said.
The locations of the Coffee with the Sheriff events are chosen based on LCSO deputy’s suggestions and interest of local coffee shops and restaurants who want to be a host.
Loudoun residents who go to Coffee with a Cop will sit down with the Sheriff and deputies who regularly patrol the area and are the ones who respond to 9-1-1 calls, Kowalski said.
Three Coffee with the Sheriff events are scheduled this quarter:
- Feb. 12 from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg
- Feb. 14 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Blend in Ashburn
- Feb. 17 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Battlefield Shopping Center Starbucks in Leesburg
