LCSO Seeks Possible Additional Victims
Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Salt Lake City Sheriff’s Office have arrested Derrick La Marr Jones of Catonsville, Maryland for two counts of illegal use of a communication system to solicit a minor between the ages of 15 and 18 with lascivious intent.
Jones was arrested in Salt Lake City. On March 7, a concerned family member reported to LCSO that a juvenile female from Ashburn was communicating via social media and engaging in sexual activity with a man believed to be an adult. The man was later identified as Jones, LCSO officials said.
Investigators determined that Jones, 35, had provided transportation for the Ashburn teenager, 16, to travel to the Baltimore area to meet him. Investigators believe that Jones uses social media and has made contact with teen girls at multi-genre entertainment/comic book conventions.
Jones often uses the alias of Kanovski Zan-Lee Vulgen or “Kano” or “Lee” and introduces himself as being in his late teen or early twenties, officials said. Since March 2017, Jones has been in the area of Orlando; Albuquerque; Flagstaff, Arizona; Phoenix; Los Angeles; Sacramento, California, and Salt Lake City.
LCSO detectives are seeking information about potential victims who may have known, associated with or communicated with Jones.
