Leaders of the Inova Hospital system along with officials from the Washington Redskins celebrated their latest partnership effort with a ribbon cutting ceremony March 13. The event commemorated the rebranding of the Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park in Ashburn.
“One of our great goal is to keep our players and coaches healthy,” said Redskins President Bruce Allen. “Last year, as many of you know we were able to hire Dr. (Robin) West and bring her to our sports medicine department. She’s been a great help for us. We are committed to keeping our players healthy and knowing what’s best for them and best for us.”
West joined Inova as its chair of it Sports Medicine group after 11 years working with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to the medial services provided by West and the rest of her department, Inova is the sponsor of Redskins’ indoor practice facility and will soon have another sign bearing the hospital system’s name near the entrance of Redskins Park.
“As part of our business plan, we wanted to have a proactive approach to take care of athletics and take care of injury prevention, recovery and performance,” West said. “We sought the best and the brightest to build the program.”
That included a partnership with EXOS, a performance training and nutritional specialists company that tailor fitness programs for athletes of all levels. Along with thousands of amateurs, the company has worked with more than 450 NFL draft picks, including 100 first rounders.
“We too are thrilled with this relationship,” said Inova COO Mark Stauder. “We look forward to partnering with the Redskins to help them stay healthy and win and for us to work together to reach our community.”
