LCSO & LCPS: Social Media Threats Not Credible

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) are aware of posts on social media making non-specific threats to some local schools.

Although there have been no credible threats at this time, as a precaution the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting directed patrol in the area of schools. All public schools are also assigned a school resource officer with deputies stationed at middle and high schools.

The social media messages come on the heels of similar postings in the region referencing people dressed as clowns and threats of violence at area schools.

County residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 703-777-1021.

Residents are also reminded that wearing a mask in public is prohibited for any person over 16 years of age. The provision does not apply to wearing traditional holiday costumes as well as other exemptions. For more information on the law, please visit http://go.usa.gov/xKzGv
