SkatePark to Host Late Night Skate Before Closing

The Catoctin SkatePark will host a late night skate event before closing for the construction of a new skate park.

Construction of the new concrete skate park will begin in early October, but before the old skate park closes, county residents can celebrate the end of an era, Leesburg Public Information Officer Betsy Arnett said in a prepared statement. On Sept. 25, the Catoctin SkatePark will be open from noon to 6 p.m. After a short break, the park will reopen at 7 p.m. to midnight.

Admission is free and bikes will be allowed during the first 15 minutes of each hour. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., there will be a free hot dog bar. Throughout the closing party, Alpine Ski Shop will provide free giveaways. For more information, call the Ida Lee Recreation Center front desk at 703-777-1368 or visit www.idalee.org.

Demolition of the Catoctin SkatePark, in preparation for construction of the new park, will begin on Monday, Sept. 26.
