The Ashburn Ice House invites the public to help celebrate National Skating Month with a free skating event from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Skates will be provided at no cost to all participants.
Free group skating lessons will be offered at 3:30, 4 and 4:30 p.m. All ages are welcome, but ice space is limited to 200 skaters.
The goal of National Skating Month, now in its 18th year, is to increase awareness of and participation in U.S. Figure Skating programs. U.S. Figure Skating is comprised of more than 750 member clubs, collegiate clubs, school-affiliated clubs and more than 1,000 registered Learn to Skate USA programs representing more than 191,700 members.
“If you’ve never skated before but have always wanted to, this free community event is a great opportunity to give skating a try,” Ashburn Ice House General Manager Rob Lorenzen said. “We’d love to see you on the ice on the 29th. Grab a friend or bring your whole family.”
