An Ashburn man is facing several charges after an altercation with a law enforcement officer on Sept. 23.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Shawn C. Hitteman was charged with felonious assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest, attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, trespassing, possession of marijuana and public intoxication.
According to the report, a deputy saw Hitteman, 43, of Ashburn, in the roadway in the 17300 block of Dry Mill Road in Leesburg about 12:28 a.m. on Sept. 23.
As the deputy was arresting him for public intoxication, Hitteman charged him and forced him to the ground. As they fell, Hitteman assaulted the deputy. A perimeter was established with the help of additional deputies, the Virginia State Police and the Fairfax County Police Department helicopter. A K-9 unit found Hitteman hiding under a cardboard box.
Hitteman and the deputy were treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.
Hitteman is also facing outstanding warrants in Fairfax County. He was being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
