Ashburn’s Lauren Greenlief has qualified for the United States Golf Association 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship Aug. 6-12 at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston, Tennessee.
Greenlief is scheduled to tee off at 7:22 a.m. for first-round play Aug. 6. She is grouped with fellow American Alli Kim and Ting Hsuan Huang of Thailand.
Greenlief was a walk-on at the University of Virginia before eventually earning three varsity letters for the Cavaliers from 2010-12. In 2015, she because the youngest winner of the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship when, at 25 years, 25 days, she defeated Shirley Starosto for the title.
After graduating from Virginia in 2011 with undergraduate degrees in mathematics and economics, she went on to earn a master’s degree from UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce.
Greenlief, a management consultant, also reached the semifinals of the 2016 U.S. Women Amateur Four-Ball championship with partner Alexandra Austin.
