Blasting at Route7/Belmont Ridge Road Not Expected to Cause Road Closings

The Loudoun County Department of Transportation & Capital Infrastructure has announced that the use of explosives to clear dirt and rocks will be used beginning July 18 as part of a construction project at Belmont Ridge Road and Route 7.

According to the announcement, road closures are not expected as a result of the blasting. If necessary, road closures will be conducted in compliance with Virginia Department of Transportation and Loudoun County Fire Marshal requirements.

The work is part of storm sewer installation at the site, which is in the final stages of being transformed from a sign-controlled intersection to an interchange at routes 7 and 659.

The blasting is generally scheduled between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. as conditions permit, and will continue through the week of July 23.
