A special election is scheduled Nov. 6 in the Town of Middleburg to fill a vacancy on the Middleburg Town Council created when Trowbridge Littleton was elected mayor in May.
The Loudoun County Office of Elections and Voter Registration reminds residents of upcoming deadlines for candidates to file and for residents to register or change registration information.
Anyone interested in running for the council seat must file both a Declaration of Candidacy form and a Certificate of Candidate Qualification form no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17. The forms are available from the Virginia Department of Elections at elections.virginia.gov and must be submitted to the Loudoun County Elections Office. Candidates must be a resident of the Town of Middleburg.
The special election in Middleburg is being held concurrently with the general election scheduled nationwide Nov. 6. That election includes candidates for U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. The deadline to register to vote on Nov. 6 is Monday, Oct. 15.
