The Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center will reopen Nov. 2, the Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services announced today (Oct. 31).
The rec center will open at 5 a.m. on Nov. 2 with normal operating hours. The leisure pool will reopen at 8 a.m. on Nov. 10.
The recreation and community center were closed for an extensive renovation project that began in June. The project includes the installation of permanent
stadium seating for the competition pool and interior storage for pool equipment, as well as replacement and expansion of the HVAC and air evacuation systems for the pool areas.
The center’s fitness areas were also outfitted with new, state-of-the-art equipment. Retiling of the leisure pool deck will be completed by Nov. 10.
Completion of construction, originally targeted for September 2018, was delayed due to repeated weather events. During the closure, patrons could use fitness equipment and pools at alternate county facilities and select summer and exercise programs were held in the CMRC classroom areas.
To mark the center’s reopening, an open house for the public is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10. The event will feature tours, fitness demos, games, moon bounces and activities for all ages. Admission to the center will be free between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and discounted (15 percent) annual membership passes will be on sale through Jan. 6, 2019.
