Fatal Accident in Sterling Leads to DUI, Involuntary Manslaughter Charges

A one-vehicle accident Dec. 1 has left one man dead and another facing serious charges.

According to a release from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, a 1997 Dodge Ram struck a parked vehicle and then crashed into a townhouse in the 700 block of Colonial Avenue in Sterling about 10:45 p.m. The truck ended up on its side.

The driver was identified by LCSO as Julio A. Rivera, 39, of Herndon. Rivera has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. He was being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

An adult male passenger in the vehicle was transported to Reston Hospital and died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Sabino Vasquez-Murcia, 29, of Herndon.

There was minor damage to the townhouse and no one was injured inside.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is working to confirm the identity the adult male victim.
