The National Weather Service in Sterling has issued a Flash Flood Watch from 3 p.m. today (July 27) through tonight for most of Northern Virginia, including Loudoun County.
According to the NWS bulletin, “Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, with heavy rainfall rates likely. Given the saturated soil from this week’s excessive rainfall, this could result in flash flooding.”
Drivers are advised to watch for standing water covering roadways. Motorists are reminded that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
