LCSO Investigates Pedestrian Death in Car Crash

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated a vehicle crash which involved a pedestrian struck in the early hours of Oct. 9 in Sterling.

The crashed occurred around 2:25 a.m. in the area of Sterling Boulevard and E. Beech Road. The preliminary investigation indicates that Andres Zambrana, 65, of Washington, DC, was walking in the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle proceeding northbound on Sterling Boulevard, according to a release.

An independent witness said the driver had a green signal light at the time of the crash. The driver stayed on scene and called 9-1-1.

Zambrana was transported to a local hospital and where he died shortly thereafter.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor with the pedestrian. This case will remain under review for charges until toxicology results return. The Loudoun County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office will review the investigation to determine any possible charges.
