Loudoun County School Board member Joy Maloney was arrested and charged with trespassing Tuesday morning, according to Loudoun Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Kraig Troxell. Maloney, who represents the Broad Run district for the LCSB, was taken before a Loudoun Magistrate and released on a $1,000 unsecured bond the same day.
Maloney reportedly tried to obstruct patrons for a Donald Trump campaign rally from entering the Briar Woods High School auditorium in Ashburn. After organizers revoked her ticket she still refused to leave the area and sat on the ground outside the auditorium before being detained.
Maloney had previously stood with protesters outside the Briar Woods High School entrance. Maloney said she was offended by Trump’s candidacy and wanted to show up among protesters to show that his beliefs are not what Loudoun County residents stand for.
