Loudoun Under Flood Watch as Forecast Calls for More Rain Later Today

The map above shows the flood warning and flood watch areas included in the alert issued about 7 a.m. today (Aug. 1) by the National Weather Service.
The dark red line — most of Fairfax County — is already under a warning. The pink area, which includes most of Loudoun County, is under a flood watch.
With more heavy rain in the forecast for Loudoun County  beginning this afternoon and continuing at least into Thursday, flooded roadways are a strong possibility again in Loudoun, perhaps as early as this afternoon’s commute. With the ground already saturated from the last two weeks of rain, any additional moisture is likely to produce more flooding.
The forecast for today predicts partly cloudy this morning with afternoon showers or thunderstorms developing. A few storms may be severe. The high temperate is expected to reach 87 degree.  The chance of rain is 50 percent.
Motorists are reminded NOT to drive into flooded areas.
DON’T DROWN; TURN AROUND.
