Maryland Woman Killed in Rt. 15 Crash

A 38-year-old Brunswick, Maryland woman was killed in a two vehicle crash the morning of Jan. 3 on Route 15 south of Lucketts.

Nathaniel W. Nelson, 26, of Charlottesville, was driving a 2016 Jeep Cherokee south on Route 15 when he apparently fell asleep and crossed the center line, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Daily Incident Report. The Jeep struck a northbound 2014 Kia head-on. The driver of the Kia died at the scene.

Nelson was charged with reckless driving, according to the report, and taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Jeep was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased woman has not yet been released.
