Morven Park will host its final night of the inaugural season of Polo in the Park at the Morven Park International Equestrian Center this Saturday.
The Aug. 26 closing night of Polo in the Park will feature two matches, one starting at 7 p.m. and the other starting approximately at 8:30 p.m.
The gates will open for spectators at 6 p.m. and guests can purchase Stone Tower Winery wine by the glass or bottle, and Catoctin Creek Distilling Company will offer a signature cocktail, the Horse’s Neck, featuring whiskey made from rye grown on Morven Park’s organic fields, Morven Park officials said. As on previous weekends, food vendors will also be on-site.
During intermission between the two matches, children will be welcomed into the arena for tug-of-war one last time before next season which will begin summer 2018. A DJ will also provide dance music in the pavilion tent immediately following the final polo match where attendees can dance until 11 p.m.
Polo in the Park has drawn thousands of spectators this summer from all across Northern Virginia. The competitive polo arena is part of an expansion of equestrian services at Morven Park and a permanent polo arena will be completed later this year.
“We are thrilled with the turnout and community support for polo here at Morven park,” Executive Director Stephanie Kenyon said. “It’s been a pleasure to work with internationally acclaimed players Juan Salinas-Bentley and Doug Barnes, and we’re already planning next season.”
