Pedestrian Hit on Route 15 Bypass

A 39 year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while he was attempting to cross the Route 15 Bypass at Fort Evans Road around 5:34 p.m.

The victim was transported by AirCare to the INOVA Fairfax Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. The driver, a 71 year-old man from Culpeper, Virginia, remained on-scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Leesburg Police Department PIO Jeff Dube said.

The Leesburg Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently at the location of the crash and traffic headed southbound on the Bypass is down to one lane of travel.
