Republican Corey Stewart will face Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine in November’s General Election and Democrat Jennifer Wexton scored an impressive victory in a six-candidate primary and will challenge Republican incumbent Barbara Comstock in Virginia’s 10th District House seat, based on results from the Primary Election Tuesday night (June 12).
Stewart is in his fourth term as chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors and gained national attention for leading that county’s crackdown on illegal immigration in 2007. He was state chairman of President Trump’s Virginia campaign before being asked to step down for attending an unsanctioned protest against the Republican National Committee.
Kaine, who was Hillary Clinton’s running mate in the 2016 Presidential Election, did not face a primary opponent.
Jennifer T. Wexton won the Democratic primary and will face Republican incumbent Barbara J. Comstock for Virginia’s 10th District seat in the House of Representatives.
Wexton, an attorney, has represented Northeastern Loudoun and Northwestern Fairfax counties in the Virginia Senate since 2014.
Comstock easily defeated Shak E. Hill in Tuesday’s Primary Election.
