A Loudoun County woman who authorities think was out for a run was killed and a Purcellville man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving while intoxicated after an early morning incident today (Jan. 4) near Lovettsville.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was struck and killed on Morrisonville Road near Mountain Road outside of Lovettsville. The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of relatives. She was believed to have been running in the area at the time of the crash.
The driver, Zachary L. Frye, 19, of Purcellville, was arrested at the scene and charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
A passerby came upon the crash around 7:30 a.m. and saw a vehicle off of the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation has determined Frye was traveling eastbound on Morrisonville Road when he struck the victim, left the roadway and crashed into a tree. He received minor injuries in the crash.
Frye remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center pending a bond hearing.1 comment
