Registration is already under way for the 12th annual Friends of Claude Moore Park 5k trail run on May 12.
The trail run is scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. After the race, the park’s historic buildings (Lanesville Ordinary, Frogshackle Cabin and the Bridges’ One-Room Schoolhouse) are scheduled to be open for visitors from 10 a.m. to noon on May 12 at Claude Moore Park.
This cross-country run winds through the wooded trails and historic roads of Claude Moore Park.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of Claude Moore Park to help raise money for improvements to our Discovery Grove natural play space.
Friends of Claude Moore Park is an all-volunteer non-profit corporation. Its mission is to enhance the public’s enjoyment of this oasis of nature and history in Eastern Loudoun County.
Claude Moore Park offers wooded lanes, green meadows and sparkling ponds, giving visitors a chance to see deer, ducks, turtles, frogs and other wildlife that make their homes in the park’s habitats.
Features include Vestal’s Gap Visitor Center, 11 miles of hiking trails, two fishing ponds, two picnic pavilions (available for rent), a historic area listed on the National Register for Historic Places and a sportsplex with baseball, softball and rectangular fields
