Two passengers lost their lives in a single vehicle crash Jan. 22 after the driver of the vehicle fled from authorities during an attempted traffic stop, according to a release from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 22, a Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputy was running RADAR and observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed heading northbound on Route 606 (Old Ox Road) near Dulles West Boulevard.
The Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop and the driver disregarded a red traffic light and continued at a high rate of speed. The deputy marked in pursuit before losing sight of the vehicle. A short time later the deputy discovered the driver crashed into a tree in the area of Evergreen Mills Road and Stone Springs Boulevard near Arcola.
The driver of the vehicle was pulled from the car by the deputy as the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Two passengers inside the vehicle lost their lives at the scene. The names of the two victims have not been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
The driver, David G. Brown, 25, of Ashburn has been charged with reckless driving. The crash remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit and additional charges are likely.
Further details will be released as they become available.
