VDOT Postpones Bridge Replacement on Old Waterford Road in Leesburg

The Virginia Department of Transportation announced today (May 31) that the bridge replacement on Old Waterford Road in Leesburg has been postponed from June 2 and 3 to Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10.

The delay is due to recent heavy rain and the forecast for more rain over the next few days.

Old Waterford Road (Route 698) from Hurley Lane (Route 703) to Loyalty Road (Route 665) is now scheduled to be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. Saturday, June 9 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 10 while the bridge is replaced.

Residents within the closure area and emergency vehicles will have access to the closed portion of Old Waterford Road; however, they will not be able to go beyond the point of bridge replacement in either direction.

Traffic will be detoured via Hurley Lane, Clarkes Gap Road (Route 662), High Street (Route 665), Butchers Row (Route 665) and Loyalty Road back to Old Waterford Road.
