Visit Loudoun Seeks Applicants to serve on Board of Directors

The Loudoun Convention and Visitors Association — Visit Loudoun — is accepting applications from people interested in serving a three-year term on its board of directors.

The three-year terms would run from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022, with a transition period beginning in May 2019. Resumes must be received by Jan. 31. The new board will be elected by Visit Loudoun’s members at the Visit Loudoun Annual Meeting and Tourism Awards Luncheon in May.

Visit Loudoun is a non-profit organization that is the destination management organization for Loudoun County and its incorporated towns. Visit Loudoun promotes the county to stimulate the sustainability and enhancement of its economy and quality of life by advocating for smart destination development and marketing its entertainment and tourism opportunities to travelers around the world.

The board and a governance structure are commited to advancing the organization’s core mission.  The Visit Loudoun Board is comprised of up to 24 elected members whose terms are staggered so the board benefits from the combined experience of existing  and new members.

Interested candidates should submit a resume outlining their business/professional career, including any tourism-related experience. This may range from owning a tourism-related business, having experience in hospitality and/or tourism marketing or volunteering with a tourism-related organization. Special business skills, such as communications, and community involvement should also be included.

Three business references should accompany the resume along with a response to the statement: “My service on the Visit Loudoun Board of Directors will help Visit Loudoun and tourism in Loudoun County because …” This response should be no longer than one double-spaced, typed page.
