VSP identifies man killed in Purcellville crash

Tuesday of a West Virginia man who was killed in an early morning crash Oct. 13 on Route 9.

Kevin R. Bill, 60, of Inwood, West Virginia, died at the scene of the head-on crash. According to a KSP news release, Bell was driving eastbound on Purcellville Road/Route 9 less than a mile west of Route 611 in a 2001 Kia Spectra at 4:42 a.m.

Bell followed two other vehicles that attempted to pass a semitrailer truck in the westbound lane in a no-passing zone. The first two cars made back into the eastbound lane but Bell’s car did not.

The Kia crashed head-on into a westbound 2014 Dodge Charger. The driver of the Dodge, a 55-year-old Haymarket man, was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

According to VSP, both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The truck and the other two vehicles were not involved in the crash.
