Weather-related delays have forced the Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services to announce that Ashburn Park will be closed through November.
Renovations and repairs at Ashburn Park were expected to be completed by now. The work has been delayed because of the impact on the construction projects of recurring storms and heavier-than-usual rainfall amounts.
The project, which includes repair and replacement of footings, decking and guardrails for two aging bridges and repair of creek wall erosion, started on Aug. 31. Completion was originally anticipated by the end of October. To ensure the safety of patrons and allow access for construction equipment, the entire park, including playgrounds, will remain closed to the public.
