A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Thursday (Nov. 15) for Northern Virginia and the entire Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
Precipitation is in the forecast for all of Loudoun County from about 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 15). What form that precipitation takes could vary greatly, depending on where you are.
The eastern half of the county should wake up to a wintery mix of rain and sleet. As temperatures rise, it should switch over to all rain.
From the central part of the county west, the day is going to start with snow mixed with sleet, with accumulations up to 6 inches possible before temperatures rise enough to convert the moisture to rain.
Loudoun County Public Schools are closed Thursday. Fairfax County schools are on a two-hour delay.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet and freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Visibilty issues and slippery roads are likely throughout Northern Virginia.
